Say Yes to a Smile That Lasts

When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options.

This is a common cosmetic dental procedure in Los Angeles, and our team frequently places porcelain veneers for patients from all over The Valley and beyond. Find out more about why The Dental Health Group often recommends veneers.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a highly effective way of getting the smile you want for a relatively low cost compared to other procedures. Designed to be alternatives to crowns and bridges, veneers are custom-made “shells” to go over your teeth. Even though they appear thin, they are made of durable composite materials that bond to the front of your teeth.

Veneers can hide imperfections like the appearance of gaps between teeth, unevenness in tooth size and shape, discoloration, crooked or rotated teeth, a misaligned bite, and other issues that affect the overall appearance of your smile.

How do Porcelain Veneers Work?

Porcelain veneers are designed to look and feel like real teeth so you can dazzle everyone with your smile just like the celebrity stars of Los Angeles. As the veneers are bonded directly to the tooth surface, they will not stain, chip, or crack. You can eat, brush, and floss normally.

Veneers are designed to last at least ten years, but they often last much longer. With proper care, porcelain veneers can hold to your teeth for 20 years or more, making them a reliable and cost-effective solution to many dental concerns. Their longevity is one of the reasons we recommend veneers at The Dental Health Group.

What Happens During the Procedure?

Veneer placement happens over the course of several appointments—you can expect at least three visits, sometimes four. At your first consultation in our Canoga Park office, Dr. Abad will give you a preview of how porcelain veneers will look. Our state-of-the-art technology will superimpose the veneers on your current smile to give you the best idea of how you’ll look when everything is done.

Afterward, or at your next appointment, we’ll need to take some measurements. This is a non-invasive procedure, but we will need some X-rays and impressions so the lab can mold your veneers to the proper shape.

Next, you’ll come back to receive temporary veneers. Dr. Abad will numb the area and place these on your teeth, checking for the proper fit and noting any concerns. You’ll only need to wear these for a couple of weeks. Once the lab is done with your permanent porcelain veneers, you’ll come back to our Canoga Park office for the final fitting.

How Much Do Porcelain Veneers Cost?

Because veneers are considered a cosmetic procedure and not medically necessary, they are unfortunately not covered under most insurance plans. Porcelain veneers typically cost a little over $1,500 per tooth in Los Angeles, although the exact cost depends on several factors including how much restoration you need and the market price of materials. When you come in for your consultation, we are happy to discuss cost estimates and financing options.

How Do You Care for Veneers?

After your porcelain veneers are put in, they’re going to look great and virtually indistinguishable from your real teeth, but you’ll still want to take care of them. Aftercare for veneers is straightforward and should consist of brushing at least twice a day with a soft toothbrush and veneer-friendly toothpaste, flossing daily, and scheduling follow-up appointments over the next few weeks to ensure the new veneers are fitting correctly.
